It is with great sadness that Barnett Opticians announces the sudden and unexpected passing of Carrie Eva on Monday 14 October 2019. 

Carrie joined the practice in 2012 as an experienced Dispensing Optician and quickly became an integral member of our team. She will be remembered fondly for her kind and friendly ethos, as well as her keen interests in photography and formula 1 motor racing. She will be deeply missed. 

We offer our sincere condolences to her husband, family and many friends.

We're delighted to announce that we have joined the Acuvue Contact Lens Recycle Programme, powered by Terracycle.

Every year countless contact lenses and pieces of blister
packaging end up in landfill sites across the UK.

The Acuvue Contact Lens Recycle Programme allows us to recycle your contact lenses and blister packaging, preventing them from ending up in landfill.

Bring in your used lenses and packaging and pop them in the recycling box in reception - as demonstrated here by one of our Optometrists Mark Nelson.

By supporting this scheme, you will not only help the environment, but the waste you recycle will also help to fund schools and charitable organisations.

ACCEPTED WASTE

• Any brand of soft, disposable contact lenses (daily, 2-weekly and monthly)
• Any brand of contact lens blister packaging
• Any brand of foil from the contact lens blister packaging

Waste that is NOT accepted:

• Outer card box packaging (these can be recycled with your standard household recycling)
• Rigid gas permeable contact lenses or any other form of hard contact lenses
• Contact lenses solution bottles
• Eye drop bottles
• Contact lenses storage cases​

Over the festive season, we will have slightly altered opening hours as below. We are closed between Sunday 24th and Friday 29th December to conduct some renovations in the shop.

After nearly 20 years at the practice, Dispensing Optician Lawrence Day will soon be retiring, so we are now looking to appoint a full-time dispensing optician to join our team in February 2017, or as soon as possible thereafter. Good communication and dispensing skills are essential, together with enthusiasm for excellent customer service. Further details about this opportunity, including how to apply, are available here.
