Many of you might have already heard that Google has halted sales of Google Glass Explorer, but intends to continue further research and product development for future versions of the device.

As a Google Glass Preferred Provider, Barnett Opticians can still continue to serve the prescription lens needs of Glass wearers who have the current version of the device.

We have also been informed that Glass accessories for the current version will be available for purchase through 2015.

Thank you to all the visitors of our practice who have helped fill our charity collection tin. We counted its contents the other day and have raised £78.00 for Fight for Sight!

Fight For Sight is a charity which has been funding research into blindness and eye disease for more than 40 years. On Wednesday 7 January, the charity launched its #BlinkWinkThink campaign to help win the fight against sight loss. They're asking our ‘selfie-loving’ nation to capture a ‘selfie’-style photo with one eye cleverly disguised in a creative manner. Below is principal Optometrist Mark Nelson's offering.

If you'd like to get involved yourself, then upload your photo to Facebook or Twitter, including the hashtag #BlinkWinkThink and nominate a further three people to take on the challenge. You can donate directly to the charity by texting BWTC15 £3 to 70070 (£3 is a suggested amount, you can donate up to £10 by text), or by dropping some spare change into our charity collection tin the next time you visit.
