Barnett Opticians are pleased to announce that we are now sponsoring a guide dog puppy in training, the golden retriever Hudson. There are almost two million people living with sight loss in the UK. And 180,000 of these rarely leave their home alone. Guide dogs are an important way of transforming people's lives by providing independence to those who are blind or partially sighted. Yet it costs over £32,000 to train a guide dog and a further £13,000 to support a guide dog through to its retirement. The guide dog service receives no government funding and relies entirely on voluntary donations and legacies to deliver its services. Barnett Opticians are proud to support the charity and look forward to hearing about Hudson's progress over the coming months. You can see a video of Hudson below. For further information, and if you're interested in sponsoring a puppy yourself, see the Guide Dogs website. |
