Barnett Opticians was one of many optometric practices across the UK participating in a nationwide competition, offering young customers the chance to win a £25 book token if they booked a children's eye test with their local independent optician. A young patient of ours has just been announced as one of the 10 winners across the UK of this competition. Principal optician Mark Nelson was delighted one of his patients had won. He said "It is vital that everyone, including children, has their eyes examined on a regular basis, as eye tests can not only check the overall health of your eyes but can help detect underlying health conditions." |
Around one in five children either don't have regular eye tests or have never had one, according to a recent study, which may well have a negative impact on a child's ability to learn. With children back at school and devices such as tablets and laptops now common place in the classroom eye-care experts are urging parents in Pinner and Harrow to make eye-testing a priority. Mark said "Introducing a competition to the eye test experience makes the visit fun and offers younger patients an incentive for looking after their eyes and ensuring that their opportunity for learning is optimised. Eye tests are free for children so there's no reason not to visit your local optician." |
